MONEY MATTERS HACK-A-DAY
Friday 14 July 2017
Hosted by: Cape York Partnerships and TheSPACE
Explore the world of welfare, disadvantage and chaos. We need a whole team of finance, IT and innovation professionals that truly care about North Queensland to help solve the problems of managing money when you are dirt poor. We want you to put yourself in the shoes of someone that lives on $35 a day.
Join us for one whole day where we merge two worlds – poverty and finance. This is your chance to work with others, share your wealth of experience and build a prototype product/service that will change people’s lives. Be a part of the first ever “Money Matters Hack-a-Day”,hosted by Cape York Partnership in conjunction with theSPACE.
The day will commence with a panel of people that have first-hand experience of living on welfare. From their stories we will do a reverse ‘pitch’, pitching the problem to you. You then select the area that you can bring value to. Are you passionate about helping families work together to keep each other accountable to their goals? Would you like to explore how to move people from financial crisis to financial management? Can you think of how people can have access to professional financial services when they’re living out in the bush?
You’ll join a team passionate about the same issue and put your heads together to brainstorm solutions, building off each other’s ideas like a shark feeding frenzy. Once you pick the most promising idea, your team will build a prototype for the rest of the day. At the end, you’ll have just 5 minutes to convince the room what you’ve developed is a game changer.
We will kick off early and go into the evening. Brilliant food will be provided. The event is free – all you have to give is your time, your open mind and a huge dose of enthusiasm. We guarantee you will meet amazing people, you’ll be challenged to think outside of the square and you will make a difference.
