The Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) to create jobs, drive economic growth and build stronger regional communities into the future was announced by the Federal Minister for Regional Development Fiona Nash on 23rd November.
The $297.7 million BBRF will fund projects in regional Australia outside of major capital cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra.
There are two streams of funding available under the program with Round One opening on 18 January 2017:
- Infrastructure Projects Stream – Round One applications closed 28 February
- Community Investments Stream – Round One applications closed 31 March
The BBRF replaces the previous Federal Infrastructure grants programme, the National Stronger Regions Fund, which brought $35.6 million into our region for seven projects (2014-2016).
The Round Two funding period is yet to be announced.
To the best of our ability RDA FNQ&TS will provide support to potential applicants:
- to identify and develop a strong project proposal that will contribute to long term economic growth and is a priority in our region, and
- work with you to prepare a competitive application, supporting documents and evidence.
Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or (07) 4041 1729 to arrange a time to discuss your proposal.
Note: there are rigorous eligibility and co-contribution requirements for projects. We encourage you to access the mapping tool in the grant portal where you can note the location of your project and it will advise you of your specific co-contribution requirements.
