RDA FNQ&TS has commenced its regional stakeholder engagement to inform the revised Regional Roadmap with recent positive and informative discussions with the Torres Strait Island Regional Council in Cairns.
The Regional Roadmap is a five year, strategic regional plan to guide the direction of economic development of the region. The Roadmap is an umbrella plan for all stakeholders, seeking to align relevant plans, programs and policies across three levels of government, industry and regional stakeholders. The Roadmap will also clarify the priorities that RDA will lead and deliver on.
The role of the RDA is to operate collaboratively across the region to:
- Promote Federal government programs and funding in the region including the National Stronger Regions Fund/Building Better Regions Fund.
- Develop and deliver a Regional Plan to foster regional economic development – the Roadmap.
- Assist in project proposal development and referral to appropriate funding sources.
- Advise on critical regional issues and priority activities to drive regional economic development, in consultation with stakeholders.
